Description
The Rythu Vedika initiative, launched by the Government of Telangana, is a transformative program aimed at empowering farmers and improving agricultural productivity in the State. The Rythu Vedika initiative represents a substantial investment by the Government in the agricultural sector. It encompasses various components, such as providing access to information and resources, creating a conducive environment for the formation of farmer cooperatives, and supporting sustainable farming practices. The study seeks to assess the platform's effectiveness in uniting farmers, providing access to improved technologies and best practices in agriculture, and promoting sustainable farming practices.
The study was carried out in 9 districts covering 45 Rythu Vedikas by conducting survey of farmers, consultations with scientists and experts in agriculture industry, Key Informant Interviews with officials of agriculture department, etc. The key indicators such as Farmers' awareness and participation levels, access to agricultural information and resources, adoption of modern farming practices, change in productivity and income levels, operational challenges faced by farmers and officials were assessed.
